When surveyed, 87% of business professionals confirmed that they feel comfortable conducting meetings virtually. A full 71% see the metaverse becoming part of that virtual practice.
Additionally, 40% already believe that their business will move away from the traditional/static virtual meeting of Web2 to the more immersive virtual reality of a metaverse within the next 2-5 years.
If teleconferencing is meeting the challenge and providing the solution for virtual meetings, then why are people so willing to advance the metaverse protocol? Answer: metaverses offers business a huge improvement over current virtual applications. Metaverses will truly be immersive and more importantly interactive.
Which Avatar Will People Choose?
When it comes to selecting an avatar for metaverse interaction, 35% of business professionals would select an avatar that reflects their real-life self. My feeling is that this percentage will grow as people want their own self-image to be represented in business related interactions.
What Are the Drawbacks
The lifeblood of digital anything is bandwidth. Without reliable, available and robust networks, realization of metaverse buildout will come to a standstill. Being able to engage and work with large amounts of traffic that is interactive and interoperable both within and between metaverses needs to be addressed.
For many in the business community this concern with bandwidth capability and capacity is great. A full 40% believe their current network would not be able to handle the additional burden of metaverse interaction. If this is not addressed metaverses would be nothing more than a hassle and a protocol that isn’t robust enough to be of practical use and certainly not for mission-critical usage.
Fortunately, ISPs are already addressing this issue. They are enhancing their networks and incorporating various automations and AI technology to ‘build-up’ their capacity and network-reach.
What Lies Ahead
The future of virtual connection will reach its next level. Metaverses offer so much more ‘real’ virtual connection that the technology cannot be ignored. People are ready for the next step in the internet’s evolution and business can benefit greatly from adoption and use of it. It is only a matter of time before metaverses will be accepted as a mainstream must-have.
